Assassin's Creed Introduces Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of forbidden practices and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a secret sect.
The questline concentrates on "bizarre tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Settings and Transformations
The preview features the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a dramatic moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Bonus Content
Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an unique katana in addition to numerous items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's latest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
